use of forest resources.
The Task Force encourages members to develop an understanding of exactly how current forestry and natural resources policies are affecting western states. At our meetings, members can exchange ideas and gain first hand appreciation of forest conditions throughout Western North America. Meetings are held in different locales, rotating from state to state, as well as Washington, D.C.
The Task Force was established in 1974 to help promote sound forest practices and solve complex forestry issues with individuals that have a western forestry background.
The Task Force is comprised of state Senators and state Representatives (Assemblymembers) from Alaska, California, Idaho, Oregon and Washington legislatures.
One of the common bonds of the Task Force membership is the significant federal land ownership within each member state. Federal policy and land management decisions can substantially influence the economic and social structures of the states, and particularly those with large federal ownership. Our members have pledged renewed vigor to advocate cooperative action on forestry issues
